Volunteering Opportunities
Volunteers are an essential and vital part of Grace House! Our volunteers not only provide shift coverage, they also bring a positive connection to the local community and the world-at-large for our guests. Grace House would not exist without its dedicated community volunteer corps.
Volunteers are needed Monday through Sunday, 365 days a year. Volunteer shifts include: early morning, afternoon/evening, and overnight.
Grace House currently seeks volunteers to fill the following shifts:
- Morning Shift: 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Wake guests, set the table, serve breakfast, ensure morning chores are completed. - Evening Shift: 4:45 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Prepare or pick up donated meals, interact with guests, provide conversation, play games, help with weekly cleaning projects. - Overnight Shift: 9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
Interact with guests, enforce bedtime rules, supervise sleeping quarters, tend to guest needs throughout the shift.
Grace House also seeks volunteers for other projects and general advocacy support.
Volunteers include past guests, individuals required to perform community service, students and interns from Itasca Community College, retirees and members of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), parishioners from many churches in the area, youth groups and local citizen’s who want to make a difference in someone’s life.
Volunteers must pass a background check and participate in a volunteer training session. Grace House provides volunteer training on the second Monday of each month from 5:00-6:30 PM.
